Malaria is a parasitic disease general found in tropical climates such as portions of Central/South America, Africa and Southeast Asia. It is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms are generally severe and can include high fever, chills, headache, body aches, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea. Malaria can be a fatal infection.
THERE IS NO VACCINE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE THAT PREVENTS MALARIA. Travelers to areas where Malaria is endemic should take medication (malaria prophylaxis) to prevent the infection.
